Getting a Windshield for Your Golf Cart
One great way to upgrade your golf cart is to add a windshield. A windshield can help make the trip more comfortable by blocking out rain, kicked-up debris from other vehicles, bugs, and more.

Choose Between an OEM and Aftermarket Windshield
There are two types of golf cart windshields: OEM and aftermarket.
OEM stands for "original equipment manufacturer". This refers to the company that made your given golf cart. An OEM windshield is specifically designed by the manufacturer to fit with your golf cart make and model. These windshields should fit your golf cart perfectly and be easy to install, but they can be more costly.
Aftermarket windshields are made by other companies that are not the original equipment manufacturer. They may not fit as well as OEM windshields and they may require professional installation. But they are usually less expensive and there are often more options in terms of material, tint, and shape.
Choose the Windshield Material
Golf cart windshields are usually made from either acrylic or polycarbonate. Some models are even made with a mixture of the two materials.
Acrylic windshields are tough and can resist scratches, but they are more likely to break or crack if hit by something hard...such as a golf ball that went off course. If you aren't going to drive your golf cart on a golf course, acrylic may be a good choice for you.
Polycarbonate is a tougher material and can better withstand impacts. But it can become dull over time and also tends to be more expensive.
Decide Whether To Get a Tinted Golf Cart Windshield
A tinted windshield will help reduce glare on sunny days. This can be especially helpful if you frequently use the golf cart in the spring and summer. This feature will cost a bit more, but is a worthwhile investment for many.
Decide Whether To Get a Permanent Model
Some golf cart windshields are permanent. They get installed once and then you are good to go!
Other models can be folded up and stored. This is a great option if you only want the windshield on your golf cart some of the time.
Consider Your Golf Cart's Measurements
Be sure you know the length of your golf cart's roof struts, which tend to be classified as standard (54'') or long (80''). It's also helpful to know the exact make and model of your golf cart.
